Surprises

I can't imagine building a brand, new house on empty land.  There would be none of the discoveries you make when you buy an older property.

Like the cherub in the yard.

And the tomato cages behind the garage.

The lavender growing by the steps.

And the catbird nest by the side door.

Of course, there are also those niggling questions that will never be answered, like

Why would anyone install a three door garage...

...with NO DOOR HANDLES?

  1. No handles. Now that is a quandary. We built our house on cleared ground, but there was a house and barns there at one time. We find what we like to call treasures that pop up from the ground such as square headed nails, broken pottery, etc. and there is an ancient family cemetery up on the hill. Love your pics!

  2. I keep hearing about people who find things like bags of money in the walls! Guess I'll have to be happy with tomato cages.

  3. We have garage doors that open with a remote controller, but they still have handles on them. I thought that's how they all came. No?

  4. I thought so but this is the first time we've had a real garage! There is no remote control either but at least there are ropes inside that kind of work. We're still excited to have a garage even if we have to go in by the side door.
